Russia has agreed to sell three or four diesel-powered submarines to Venezuela
Russia has agreed to sell three or four diesel-powered submarines with a total worth of one billion dollars to Venezuela whose president Hugo Chavez is expected to ink the deal during his visit to Moscow next month. Deputy Finance minister Dmitry Pankin said in a newspaper interview here that Moscow was in talks with Caracas over an 800 million dollar loan to the Venezuelans to finance the purchase. Russia might also sell 12 military transport places to the oil-rich Latin American nation that earlier acquired 3 billion dollars worth of Sukhoi fighter jets and Kalashnikov assault rifles.
